Icons Abound on West Main Street in Cheshire

Anyone with an interest in artistic symbolism, particularly as it relates to the late medieval and Renaissance periods, will want to check out Goldsmiths Gallery in Cheshire on West Main Street in April.

All this month, the business will feature the work of Andrew Bobik. The Southington artist is also an iconologist, someone who studies the field of art history focusing on representations or pictures of a sacred or sanctified Christian personage.

An example of his work is shown here.

Bobik has created icons that can be found in several churches in Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Colorado, California, Connecticut and Ohio, as well as in some private collections. He has also used his woodworking skills to build icon screens, altars, service tables, and various other liturgical items for churches.

The Gallery is located at 534 W. Main St.
