Education Foundation Holding Ceremony To Honor Scholarship Winners

Twelve Cheshire High School students will be honored tonight at a ceremony at the Dodd Middle School library for having been selected to receive scholarships awarded by the Cheshire Education Foundation.

Among the scholarships being presented is the inaugural Greg Schena Memorial Scholarship.

Two students, Kevin Reid and Matt Dupont, will receive the scholarship, which honors the memory of Greg Schena, a Cheshire High School assistant football coach and teacher at Moran Middle School in Wallingford. Schena was killed by a drunken driver in May 2010.

Other scholarship recipients being honored at the 6 p.m. ceremony are:

- Sean Kinyon, who will receive the Cheshire Education Foundation General Scholarship.

- Colin Bogrette, Ashia Wright and Eric Zdanowski, who are getting the John E. Delane Memorial Scholarship.

- Alexis Ouellette and Danielle Crochetiere, who will receive the Mark S. Jardim Memorial Scholarship, created to honor a Cheshire resident who died in the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attack on the World Trade Center.

- Courtney Haskell, who has been chosen to receive the Meaghan Welch Memorial Artistic Scholarship.

- William Guo will receive the Lombardo Family Scholarship.

- Marikate Villano, who will get the Daniel P. Martinook Scholarship.
