DeLauro Sponsors Latino Art Exhibit
Art work from Latino artists will be on display now through Oct. 14th at the headquarters of Spanish Community of Wallingford, U.S. Rep. Rosa DeLauro, D-3, announced Thursday as the exhibit opened.
The exhibit features the original work of 12 Hispanic artists from around Connecticut and is being held to honor National Hispanic Heritage Month, DeLauro said.
"This is a month dedicated to recognizing the cultures and histories, as well as the immense contributions to American society, of our Hispanic population,” she said. “These extraordinary works of art are a fitting tribute to the diverse Hispanic cultures thriving here in Connecticut and around the country.”
According to the latest census figures, the population of New Haven County is 15 percent Hispanic or Latino.The gallery will be open Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Tuesday and Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The exhibit is free and open to the public.
The Spanish Community of Wallingford's headquarters is located at 284 Washington Street.
