Cheshire, Wallingford Hold Candidate Forums Tonight And Tomorrow



Cheshire and Wallingford residents who want to hear about where candidates for local office stand on the issues have an opportunity to do so tonight and tomorrow.

Tonight in Cheshire at 6:30 p.m. is the Cheshire/Wallingford League of Women Voters candidates forum. The forum will be held in the Council Chambers on the third floor of Town Hall.

Wallingford will hold the first of two forums today at 7 p.m. in Town Hall. Candidates for Town Council will face questions from student representatives of the Wallingford's two high schools as well as from reporters with the New Haven Register and Meriden Record Journal.

Thursday night's forum, which also begins at 7 p.m., will involve candidates for the Board of Education as well as mayoral race. Democratic Councilman Vince Testa is challenging incumbent William Dickinson Jr. in the mayor's race.

The two Wallingford candidate forums are being run by the group Wallingford Community Women.

Cheshire Library To Host Book Sale



Looking to add to your book collection? The Cheshire group Friends of the Library will be holding a book sale Thursday through Saturday.

The book sale will be held at the Cheshire Public Library, which is located at 104 Main St. The hours of the book sale are:

  • Thursday: 9:30 a.m. to 8 p.m.
  • Friday: 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  • Saturday: 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Members of Friends of the Library will be able to take advantage of special hours - Wednesday from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. -prior to the opening of the sale to the public.
